Diabetes 2 may be delayed or prevented

Just because someone in your family has diabetes 2, it doesn’t mean you have to have the disease.
A 10 year study in Hawaii showed it’s possible to delay or onset of type 2 diabetes.
Two key lifestyle factors are necessary. They are changes aimed at 1) modest weight loss and 2) increased physical activity.
Here’s an excerpt from the article:
The Diabetes Prevention Program Outcomes Study, published online yesterday in The Lancet medical journal, found that lifestyle changes such as consuming less fat and calories, and increasing regular physical activity to 150 minutes per week reduced the rate of developing type 2 diabetes by 34 percent and delayed onset of the disease by four years.
